David Haye apunta sus armas hacia los Klitschkos

NUREMBERG, Alemania (AP) - David Haye cumplió con sus bravuconadas este fin de semana y venció a Nikolai Valuev en una decisión dividida para ganar el título pesado de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo.

Ahora el ex peso crucero, quien algunos tildan de arrogante, fijará sus cañones para continuar su asalto verbal contra los dos reyes del peso completo, Vitali y Vladimir Klitschko.
Haye aprovechó su mayor velocidad
para superar al enorme ruso, que en el último asalto estuvo cerca
de ser noqueado por primera vez en sus 16 años de carrera.

La victoria sobre el campeón más alto y pesado de la historia
fue la tercera para Haye desde que subió de la categoría crucero.
El británico se enfrentó con Valuev tras haberse opuesto
mediáticamente a los otros campeones pesados, los hermanos Wladimir
y Vitali Klitschko.

Haye, con foja de 23-1, probablemente no se enfrente a ninguno
de ellos, ya que se supone que su primera defensa será contra John
Ruiz, quien más temprano venció al alemán Adnan Serin en el séptimo
round.

Haye recibió dos tarjetas de 116-112 y un tercer juez falló un
empate, 114-114.

Haye buscó mantener en movimiento a Valuev -cuya foja es de
50-2- y usó la izquierda a la mandíbula y poderosas combinaciones,
mientras que el ruso tuvo problemas para alcanzarlo y sólo lo tocó
con jabs de izquierda.

El inglés conectó varias derechas e izquierdas potentes a la
cabeza de Valuev y así sacó ventaja en los puntos. Valuev se
encendió por fin en el inicio del cuarto asalto, pero el sexto Haye
conectó una combinación derecha-izquierda y dos buenas izquierdas.

Haye siguió obligando al ruso a esforzarse y al mismo tiempo
encontraba algunos huecos, como cuando pegó un fuerte derechazo
seguido de una izquierda al rostro de Valuev en el noveno asalto.
Concluyó la pelea al pegarle dos ganchos de izquierda en el 12mo
asalto que desestabilizaron al ruso.
