Esta semana, en el programa de radio 'On The Ropes' que se transmite por el portal de boxeo East Side Boxing, el entrenador de Manny Pacquiao, Freddie Roach, fue cuestionado sobre los emparejamientos Pacquiao-Clottey y Mayweather-Mosley.Roach manifestó que su pupilo vencerá por nocaut en los últimos asaltos a un Joshua Clottey que nunca ha sido noqueado en su carrera. Además de ello, fue tajante al decir que Floyd Mayweather se alzará con la victoria el próximo 1 de mayo cuando choque con el veterano 'Sugar' Shane Mosley.
Pero lo que más llamó la atención fue que el jefe del Wild Card Gym, de Hollywood, California, afirmó que la pelea del 13 de marzo estaría siendo la última de la carrera de Pacquiao, pues considera--más bien miente--que Floyd no quiere subirse a un ring y enfrentar al actual 'Rey Libra por Libra'.

Asimismo, el ruso señaló irónico: "Si está tan a favor del juego limpio, debería ir hasta el final. La ATP tiene una cuenta bancaria, puede reembolsarla si quiere"
Agassi, no sólo reconoció que ingirió drogas durante un torneo, si no además que lo hizo durante todo un año. También que utilizó una peluca en la final de Roland Garros, en 1990. Que su padre le recomendaba tomar estimulantes y hasta contó algunos detalles de su relación con su ex, la actriz Brooke Shields. "Si vas a contar tu historia, tienes que ser honesto", se justificó el Kid de Las Vegas. Reflexión totalmente noble, ahora bien, mucho más ético hubiera sido que el dóping lo confesara en el mismo momento que se produjo; fue en 1997.
Lo cierto es que días atrás, cuando se supo a través del contenido de su libro, "Open", que a fines de 1997 había ingerido Cristal Meth, una potente metanfetamina, pero que eludió una pena gracias a la indulgencia de la ATP que le creyó que su asistente le había mezclado droga en la bebida parecía que no habría más nada que decir al respecto. Sin embargo, el Kid de las Vegas acaba de reconocer en la revista People que consumió esa sustancia durante "más o menos un año".

El ex tenista Andre Agassi presentará "Open", una autobiografía en la que hace polémicas y descarnadas confesiones sobre su pasado. Allí reconoce haber consumido "Chrystal Meth", poderosa droga que le podría haber representado cinco años de cárcel en los Estados Unidos. Y por supuesto, una sanción de la Asociación de tenis.
Según cuenta en su libro, el ex número uno estaba muy atormentado y fuera de estado por el inminente casamiento con Brooke Shields allá por 1997. Un asistente, entonces, le habría ofrecido el estimulante que a la larga fue detectado en un control antidoping.
