México disputará el partido inaugural de la Copa Mundial de Sudáfrica frente a los anfitriones el próximo 11 de junio en Johanesburgo, según determinó el sorteo del campeonato realizado en Ciudad del Cabo.

En un partido muy sucio, el seleccionado mexicano logró un triunfo muy sufrido sobre Honduras, que lo ubica con un pie en el Mundial de Sudáfrica 2010.

Los catrachos fueron al estadio Azteca a buscar un empate y renunciaron por completo al ataque, siempre tratando de destruír el juego mexicano, que tuvo varias ocasiones de gol. Sin embargo, falló en la definición.

Veremos cómo enfrenta la selección española el partido ante Turquía con las bajas de Iniesta, que se ha tenido que volver a casa lesionado, y con un Xavi a medio gas. Los dos volantes del Barça ejercen el mismo control en la selección española, permitiéndole hacer el "click" que enchufa al equipo. El domingo lo vimos con mucha claridad. A la que se fueron los volantes, el juego se oscureció por arte de magia. Xavi e Iniesta hacen fácil lo realmente muy difícil –sino que se lo pregunten a los centrocampistas del Real Madrid!

Raúl ha dado la espalda a los miles de aficionados y muchos periodistas que no han cesado en su campaña en pedir su presencia en la Selección. Pues bien, el chuleta más chuleta de España ha salido diciendo que el ir a la selección no le quita el sueño. Pues muy bien, que no vaya. La Selección está para jugadores con mucha hambre de éxito que se dejen la piel –y sobre todo, la cabeza- en el campo. Si no le quita el sueño, que se vaya a dormir. Otros pelearán por él con mucho más gusto.

Se me abrieron los ojos como platos al leer que el nuevo seleccionador español Vicente del Bosque está pensando en convocar a Raúl para la selección. ¿Pero no ha quedado claro que la ausencia del influyente ex capitán fue una de las claves para conseguir la eurocopa?

El poder de Raúl en la selección es parecido a un concepto económico conocido como "crowding out," es decir, cuando el estado –u otro agente- tiene demasiado peso en la economía, eso hace que los otros agentes se retraigan, restando su contribución, disminuyendo la iniciativa.




El delantero del Valencia David Villa demostró ayer una vez más que el Valencia se le queda pequeño. El asturiano dejó clavados a John Terry y otros dos defensas inglesas para batir a David James con un gol precioso de delantero técnico y luchador.

Inglaterra acababa de perder por 2-0, un resultado que disimula el auténtico baño que la selección española dio anoche a la inglesa en Sevilla. Sin embargo, Beckham salió de los vestuarios con una gran sonrisa: había igualado al mítico Bobby Moore con 108 partidos internacionales, más que ningún otro jugador inglés, sin contar a los porteros.
